Quick update on the last few months of our lives…
We left San Cristobal for the USA on Nov 1st. We spent time in Dallas, and Sonoita AZ, then up to Denver! Of course it was wonderful to be back with my family and our church in the snowy Colorado mountains! We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years there. After 13 months away it was great to be able to reconnect with old friends, and meet the new faces in our home church. We had such a great visit to the US and were blessed more times by more people than we could begin to tell you about. God provided (and continues to provide) for us in amazing and sometimes humorous ways.
Our trip back to Mexico was definitely the most eventful we’ve ever had. I could go on for several pages about all the events of our journey South. But the important part of the story is what God showed us through it. At every turn and every mishap, He used you, His children, to help take care of us. It really was amazing! So many of the situations we found ourselves in should have been so much worse. But when the family of God operates as a family, it really is amazing to witness first hand! After 4 days of driving on this side of the border, we made it home. Never before have any of us been so relieved to see our front gate. :) For the first time, I find myself so excited to be back here in Chiapas! Usually, I cry the first few days after leaving Colorado. But somewhere along the way, over the last several months, I believe God has knit my heart to San Cristobal. I can't tell you how relieved I am about that. To finally feel at home here is truly a welcome change!
Now, we've been home 2 and a half weeks. And I'm almost unpacked. ;) Already, Nathan has gotten a lot of office work done (2008 taxes, organizing 2009 mission teams, etc)! Kaihla went home to be with her family for the month of Dec, then came back down with us. We’re so grateful for her help!
March 2nd we had a Christian speaker here from Turkey to give a conference on Islam. The focus was to try and help Christians understand and witness to people who are Islamic. Kaihla helped prepare for that, translating the power points into Spanish, and Nathan did the live interpreting for the speaker. ALSO, we stopped the other day at our lawyer’s office and picked up the title to the donated land in San Fernando! We will now be able to begin developing that land for agricultural mission outreach.
Lastly, we wanted to share with you our most recent news... it looks as though God has decided to give us another baby! We are THRILLED about this, and again, greatly appreciate your prayers. We've had several miscarriages over the years, and want to do everything in our power to insure this baby's safety. We only just found out, but right now we are guessing a due date at the very end of October.
We pray that this Spring, you will enjoy the many blessings God has given you, just as we are!
(for Nathan, Cloe, Gabi and Tiny #3!)
