April 2011

April was a fun month for us. We were so excited to have Rachel Humphrey come back for a few weeks, and she has been even more of a blessing than we anticipated! She kept the girls for us overnight so that Nathan and I could have a little get-away for my birthday. It was wonderful!

The house construction is still in progress, although it feels quite slow at times. Last month Nathan was able to finish all of the electrical wiring as well as most of the plumbing. It has been a learning experience on so many levels! A few days ago, as we were about to connect all the sewage lines to the addition, we discovered that we had a huge problem on our hands. To make a long story a tad shorter, we are now back to a bit of a hold pattern. We have been operating under the assumption that the house addition would just connect into the existing septic system on property. Not so! This means we have to hook up to the city system, which we aren't set up for yet. So right now this means another $2000 and a mess of paperwork and city politics. At this point, we are considering not moving in until August or September. We have one team after another scheduled from now until Sep, so I suppose we have plenty to keep us busy while we wait.

April was a productive month in the office, and we are excited to tell you that we are ready to start on the Acts project! Also, Nathan and Rachel have developed these flip-books with illustrations in English, Zoque, Ch'ol, and Spanish. They will be so useful in the jungle when access to a projector is limited!

Speaking of which! Nathan is out in the Ch'ol jungle right now with a team. We will tell you all about it next month, but for now I wanted you to know so you can be praying for them. They will be installing and repairing water filters, recording, doing kids programs, and sleeping in hammocks. I know they would appreciate your prayers, as do I! They are due to arrive back here on Tuesday night.

Thank you for your prayers and support. They mean the world to us!

Julie (for Nathan, Cloe, Gabi and Brennah too!)
